CNN’s military ‘advisers’

If you thought the mainstream media’s coverage of last year’s NATO invasion of Kosovo stank of rah-rah journalism, in at least one case, there’s good reason. Military personnel from the US Army’s Psychological Operations group have, until recently, been working with the journalists at CNN’s Atlanta headquarters, according to COUNTERPUNCH.

Major Thomas Collins of the Army Information Service was quoted in the original story in a Dutch newspaper saying, “Psy-ops personnel, soldiers and officers, have been working in CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta through our program ‘Training with Industry.’ They worked as regular employees of CNN. Conceivably, they would have worked on stories during the Kosovo war. They helped in the production of news.”
