Shortly after an hourlong meeting with Bernie Sanders at the White House Thursday, President Barack Obama released a video announcing his endorsement of Hillary Clinton for president. “I’m with her,” he says in the video. “I am fired up and I cannot wait to get out there and campaign for Hillary.”

Obama also paid tribute to Sanders, dismissing the idea that the primary would leave Democrats divided and touting his success at bringing young voters to the polls. “They’re both patriots who love this country and they share a vision for an America that we all believe in,” Obama said.

Mother Jones was founded as a nonprofit in 1976 because we knew corporations and billionaires wouldn't fund the type of hard-hitting journalism we set out to do.

Today, reader support makes up about two-thirds of our budget, allows us to dig deep on stories that matter, and lets us keep our reporting free for everyone. If you value what you get from Mother Jones, please join us with a tax-deductible donation today so we can keep on doing the type of journalism 2022 demands.
